Have you ever...? (Write about your experiences)

Through this section you're going to find short texts written by your partners (they're using a nickname instead of their real names).  These short texts describe some experiences or doubts that their authors have had and they invite you to write a comment by answering the questions they have made for you.  Share and enjoy :)

Text # 1
by Kamy Pein
I've never drunk beers in my long life, but I've drunk Coca-Cola and juice.  Some strange people eat monkeys! What the hell! I'm wondering how does meat of monkeys taste?  I think the meat of monkeys is like the meat of chicken.  Frogs taste delicious! Yummy!  Have you ever met people who eat strange food?  Tell me your story, please!

Life experiences: an introduction to the Present Perfect Tense

Hi everybody!

The Unit 3 of our syllabus suggests to talk about our life experiences by using the Present Perfect Tense.  Now, we're going to complete some activities to know more about this tense and to practice it.

We're going to start with the Activity 1 on the English 4 Prepa 1 Grammar section.  Complete all the tasks that you find there and then post a comment in this entry answering the questions:

  • Have you ever had an experience similar to The Flatmates in the episode 18? Tell us more about it.
  • Have you ever heard the Present Perfect Tense in a song?  Is this use related to an experience, to something that continues up to now or to something that occurred in the past but has a present result?
I'll be waiting for your comments!

Do you remember my explanation about MDG in Spanish?
Here you have the English version of the same video :)

White Flag, by Dido

...I will go down with this ship
And I won't put my hands up and surrender
There will be no white flag above my door
I'm in love and always will be...

The Future Simple Tense in Songs

Hello, dear students :)

As you know, we're studying the Future Simple Tense.  Remember that you use it when you're talking about predictions, resolutions, promises and instant decisions.  If you want to express your ideas in a positive way (affirmative) you only need WILL (or the contraction 'LL) plus the verb.  Example: John WILL love Mary forever and they'll be very happy.
If you want to talk in a negative form, you must use WILL NOT (or the contraction WON'T) plus the verb, e.g. John WON'T love another girl.
It could be a good idea that you find some songs that contain the use of this tense to know how to apply it.  Here are some students' suggestions:
